Neofelis Naboo will move to us. She is the kitten I have liked best all along. She has a great look and her coatquality is very promising.

Her sister Amidala (to the left) has the loveliest ear tufts possbile, but and her brother Boba Fett (in the middle) also has a great expression and he is big and strong. It is a lovely litter and daddy Taiga is really proud.

(N)Neofeli's Naboo, mother is Armilla av Holskogen(N) and her father is my own GIC FIN*Amante's King of Taiga. I am so glad Naboo is moving in with us. I wanted so much to have another Taiga-baby, and Naboo is in my opinion the best girl in her litter. The lines also is very interesting, very traditional lines on both sides. Thank you Pia!!

She is related to my first siberian Aztii on the mothers side, and to Summer on the fathers side. She is also related to Taiga, but only far back in the pedigrèe.

We have had one of our worst weeks ever! IC (N)Gaupekatten's Frøken Norge gave birth to six tiny kittens on monday, one week early. The kittens were too weak to live, and died one by one.

Now we have only (N)Solstorm's Ghost left from our nightmare-litter. She will be staying in the cattery.

At the temple, there is a poem called "Loss",

carved into the stone. It has three words...

but the poet has scratched them out.

You cannot read "Loss"... Only feel it.

Sometimes you can't help but falling in love, and when I first saw her photo I just fell head over heels.

This was my eldest daughters special cat, and she named her Summer.

Summer was very social, and was always purring, even when she was close to death.

She had her heart scanned in oktober 2009 and had a beautiful litter of kittens with handsome Taiga.

May 15th she tragically died of aqute kidney failure when her kittens were only 9 weeks old. Nothing had prepared us for this and we were devostated!
The most tragic is she died from her kittens, thankfully they are big enough to fend for themselves.

So many hopes and dreams for (N)Solstorm's Cattery will be buried with our lovely Summer-girl, but thankfully her beautiful daughter Karma will still stay with us.

This weekend we was at thow - again, and we had success - again
GIC FIN*Amante's King of Taiga got his two first CACS, and was even nominated on saturday and got one vote in the panel.

Finally our young boy went all the way, and twice the same weekend. FIN*Lumukissan X-Cellent was BIS on saturday with all votes, and on suday with three votes.

Handsome Isak was also at show, and got very good judgements both days. He was IC on sunday. Now he will go to two more shows this summer, and then take a pause to mature a little.

These first five pics are Instant Karma. She is SIB n 23 or SIB ns 23. She has the best head, and she has a lot of red. She is currently spoken for.

This is Monsoon, and if any of the girls will be staying at home, she's the one. She has the weakest head at the moment, but I will keep an eye on her and see how she developes. I love her colour and pattern. She will be registered SIB gs 09 22

Darkside of the sun looks like a SIB n 23, and you have to really look closely to find red on her. But it is there, and it will be more visible in time. She is not silver (I think...). She was biggest when they were born, and is developing fast. She is the first to open her eyes. She too has a nice head

Summer is big and full of babies at the moment. It's only about a week until they are arriving. Summer is finding it hard to find a comfortable position to sleep in. Here she is on her back i my lap, and I think she really enjoyed getting her tummy rubbed. I also enjoyed feeling all her babies kick and move around. Can't wait to see what she's hiding

When I and my boys were in Bergen we made a visit to Siv at (N)Vestavind cattery. It is always nice to visit "cat people", and Siv is such a nice person!! Thanx again Siv.

Now the two "lovebirds" have mated, and we're hoping for kittens from them around April 20th. "Bagheera" of course is IC (N)Gaupekatten's Frøken Norge, and "Charlie" is S*Bjaro's Karl den Store. I went to Kiruna today to bring Bagheera home, and also managed to makee a short stop at S*Laxforsen's to have a chat and a cup of tea before I went home again. Today I stopped by Biltema, to get a present for a friend. I also found some really cheap stuff to my cats. This food dish is of nice size for more than one cat, and I think I will go back another day and buy some more of them.

I also bought this for Maks, nice to know that he is visible outside in the dark. And this too was really cheap!

I also bought some cat toys, and Teddy has not been still since I got home. Especially one of them was to his taste, so I will probably have to go back and buy some more of them too

This is not from Biltema, but from my local petshop. Catbeds where sold for 30% off, so I just had to have this cute rat.

Bissans litter was special in many ways, and I have had to wait A LONG TIME for the pedigrèes because of her heartcondition. But finally they are here, of course they are not allowed to breed, but at least they are now pedigrèe cats, and it will feel really nice to send the pedigrèes to the new owners ASAP

I was in Tromsø for a single night, and what had happened? My DVDs from the top shelve in my livingroom was laying scattered on the floor, and some of the things laying on the top shelve in the kitchen was also resting on the floor. And also some things I had put on the top shelve in my hallway was now down in the basement. I wonder what they were looking for...?

Vi ønsker fòrverter både til hanner og eventuelt til hunner. Hvis du er interessert i å være fòrvert for en hunnkatt er det viktig at du bor i nærheten av meg, men hvis du kunne tenke deg en hannkatt kan du bo litt lengre unna uten at det er et så stort problem.

Årsaken til at vi vil benytte oss av fòrverterer å kunne ha ett større utvalg av avlsdyr å arbeide med i vårt avlsprogram, men likevel ikke ha flere katter hjemme enn at vi kan ha tid til dem alle.
Det er et par mulige fòravtaler jeg ser for meg. Den ene er at fòrverten får katten vederlagsfritt. Da ønsker vi å få ha to kull på en hunnkatt, evnt tre-fire parringer på en hannkatt. Den andre muligheten jeg ser for meg er at fòrverten betaler halv pris for katten. Da ønsker jeg ett kull eller en-to parringer. Vi gjør en skriftlig avtale når vi setter ut katten på fòr.

Fòrverten dekker alle utgifter med det daglige katteholdet. Det vil si ting som mat, sand, vaksiner, ormekurer osv.
Vi dekker alle utgiftene til div. tester før avl, men fòrverten må være villig til å reise et stykke for å teste katten mot f.eks HCM som må gjøres i Tromsø.
Vi ønsker også å stille ut katten noen ganger. Avlsgodkjenning på utstilling dekkes av oss.

Kittens expected

Sweet IC (N)CarilloCat Lucky Day and handsome IC FIN*Amante's King of Taiga are expecting kittens in medio March. This will be an exiting litter for us, this is Lucky Days first litter, and I can hardly wait to see what she will give us. Hopefully there will be some high white kittens.

Bagheeras planned date

We have made a date for Bagheera this weekend if his other planned date still is not in heat. I will not tell too mcuh about this boy still, other that he's nicknamed Charlie. His colour is ds 02 21.

Teddys brothers and sisters have done great at show, they already have several ex. 1, NOM and BIS. His brother (pic on the index-page of Lumikissans homepage) already has three BIS!!
It's unbelivable. Of course I had to compare the two brothers and found I had not taken any good profile-pics of Teddy. So here is one from tonight. It seems I have nothing to worry about, it is very similar to his beautiful brother in Switzerland. He has a different coat quality it seems, but in my opinion Teddy has a GREAT quality already as a small boy. I love him <3

Bissan and Teddy

There's no new and exiting news to tell from my cattery for the moment, so I just wanted to share a pic of Bissan. She is in "good" health as always, meaning we cannot se her HCM in her everyday life. She is cuddly as always, playing with Teddy and giving the dog one or two beats everytime she feels it is neccesary. She also is the police in my cattery, and if the other cats are making too much noice (for instance Taiga is trying to mate somebody who doesn't agree), Bissan is there in a flash and straighten things up. She is very authorative ;0)
Also tought I should share a copule of pics of my hooligan Teddy and Maks the dog. Teddy loves to play with the dog, and vica verca. They are the best of friends even if things look a bit out of control in this pic. Actually Maks don't mind too much if the cats bite his nose, but if they touch his feet they have won! Strange dog...

Here's another pic where at leat Maks is posing nicely. Teddy I guess is wondering what kind of mischief he can come up with next. He is soooo lovable, but also the biggest hooligan in my home at the moment. Teddy is developing in a flash of light. I think he must have gained 1 kg the last week... Of corse it isn't true, but he is really developing and he will be a big and very big boned MAN when he grows up :0)

HCM-test

In Norway we don't have a pawpeds-approved vet at the moment, but for me the most important thing is to test, not to get the results in a database. I live 4 hours drive from Tromsø, the nearest place to test for HCM, so I was really happy Merethe at (N)Gyfi's agreed to pick Bagheera up when the boat arrived in Tromsø, take her to the vet and pop her off at the boat back to Harstad again in the afternoon.

At 10 a.m I sent Bagheera to Tromsø with this boat. Nice isn't it?

The name is "Fjorddronningen", or in English: "The fjord queen"

And of course the most important thing to tell is that Bagheeras heart was PERFECT today! I'm so happy. Now she will be mated to handsome Taiga.

FIN*Amante's King of Kindness

Taiga is one of 6 brownmacrel boys in Amante's K-litter. I am so lucky to get updates and funny comments and stories from Taigas brother Maksin from time to time. Today I even got a photo, and the permition to share it in my blog. Maksim, or FIN*Amante's King of Kindness as his pedigrèe name is, is a neutered boy, and he is living together with another stunning Amante-cat and their two legged "mum" Ritva. I promised to tell everybody Maksim is just as sweet and nice as Taiga, even though he looks a bit angry in the photo. He, like Taiga, does not like the blitzlight and closes his eyes. Thanx Ride for commenting and sharing stories. I really appretiate it <3

Taiga was putting on his dipers again today to visit upstairs. Here he is trying to make a pass at Bagheera, but she is not in heat at the moment and was telling him off BIG TIME. That's what he gets for being unfaithful I suppose... ;0)
But Taiga is stressed about his girls calling for him, so he had to spray, and after he had sprayed his dipers a couple of times he was taken to his room again. Hopefully he will meet Bagheera "for real" again soon. But we need to screen her for HCM again first.

Summers sister had kittens today, and it feels like a sneakpeak into the future. She had five kittens. Four of them are high white, and one without white. They are completely adorable!!

Bagherea is in heat, and is flirting with Maks the dog. Of course the dog does not understand what she means, but is in heaven being able to cuddle the cat as much as he wants. I will try to take her to the vets' asap to get her heart checked so the dog can get some peace and Taiga can get some action ;0)

A challenging feeding dish

This food dish came by post today. It is a challenge to eat from, so it's good for cats that need a challenge and also of course fat cats. I let Teddy and Summer try it first, they are not fat, but they are very smart and playful, and I wonder how they end up solving this challenge :0)

Remembering 2009

This year has been a relativly quiet year. I have taken a step back from the cat fancy this year. I got tired of all the bickering and arguing between people, and then it's nice to take a step back sometimes.

I had a litter this year. A lovely little siberian boy named (N)Solstorm's Isak Taiganov was born. He is sold to a friend, and I have had the opportunity to show him a few times. His best result so far is a nomination in class 11. Bagheera, Taiga and Summer has also been shown of course. They are all IC now, and some of them have already a few CAGCIB's also.

I also bought a new cat this year. He is a really funny little teddybear, so we call him Teddy.
His full name is FIN*Lumikissan X-Cellent. He is co-owned with CarilloCat Cattery and will live there when he is a little older.

My personal life in 2009 has also had a lot to say for how I have run my cattery. I have become a student, taking a masters degree in social anthropologi/etnography, so I haven't had so much time for shows or kittens this autumn. I have had to set my children and my studies before my cats.

My plans for 2010

I am planning several shows this winter. The main reason for this is that I want to show Teddy as a kitten quite a lot since I think he is promising. And also I want to show my male Taiga when he is at his best. He is such a stunning gentleman when he is dressed for winter.
Isak Taiganov will also be shown as an adult. His owner will go with me to a few shows, and hopefully she will like it as much as I do.
We will be at BERAK in february, Trønderkatten in March, Björkstadkatten in april. Then summer begins, and we have to see what condition my cats are in for show. This summer TICA will arrange a show in Harstad, and we will attend there for sure, just to try a different show.

We are hoping for a couple of litters this year. The first is planned between Summer and Taiga, and I am now just waiting for her to get into heat. Then Bagheera will be HCM-tested and if everything is fine she will be mated too. I am not sure about the male yet. Taiga and Bagheera has proven to be a nice match, so I might let her meet him again. Maybe Summer will have another litter this year, and then she will meet little Isak Taiganov. I am looking VERY MUCH forward to get second generation (N)Solstorm's kittens in my cattery!!!
Both Taiga and Isak has had a few marriage proposals from other catteries, so hopefully they will get to meet a few more nice girls this year too.

I am still studying, and will do my fieldwork next year, and start to write on my essey. After my fieldwork I will spend some more time at home (I think) again.
Another plan for 2010 is to take up mountain hiking again. I did it this year too (until I hurt myself and had to stop for a while). I lost some weight, and I got a lot of fresh air, and had some wonderful times with my children and my dog, so I will take up that sport again for sure!!!
